Summer 2021

A public arts trail telling the story of Longleat House and it’s legendary history as a place for conservation, animal welfare and education.

This temporary installation was open to the public for 3 months in the summer of 2021 and featured 12 larger-than-life animal sculptures. Located around the grounds of the house each character told the story of some of the park’s most well-loved former residents. From Russel the white Peacock who used to chase the gardeners around the estate to ‘Ghost’ a horse who survived the trenches in the first world war. All sculptures were realised using sympathetic natural materials including wool for the kangaroos and hand-dyed recycled silks for the penquins coats.
